This year we are highlighting different products that we think would be great gifts for our own friends and family. In our HandBookLive Holiday Guide we are only featuring products that have videos handbooks on www.HandBookLive.com that show what the product is, what its features are, and how to use it. We don’t want our friends scratching their heads under the Christmas tree trying to read complicated manuals.
This guide focuses on woodworking tools. Fortunately, it is among the industries that is quickly shifting to the new way of educating consumers about their products via video instructions, so we have quite a few products to share with you. And there are always new tools for woodworkers which makes it so much fun!
So here are the select few woodworking tools that we have chosen this year:
1. Router Buddy System by Practical Technologies
http://practical-technologies.com
I want to start with this handy little tool because it is so simple and yet adds so much versatility to your existing router. Here is more information from the Practican Technologies directly:
“The Router Buddy System redefines versatility, accuracy and speed by converting an ordinary hand held router or laminate trimmer into a precision machine. Imagine being capable of doing ordinary router jobs within thousands (.001”) of an inch or metric sizes. If you ever needed to use your router with an edge guide on either a straight of curved edge, cut circles, arches or ellipses, follow templates with a template bushing, Router Buddy is the solution for you because it’s a user friendly tool that does all these jobs and more quickly and accurately .
The heart of the Router Buddy is the patented Base Plate with the built in Dovetail Slot. This simple innovation is revolutionizing the method of attaching accessories to a router. It eliminates the need to make base plate changes for different set-ups. This feature reduces the set-up time when converting the 6 accessories from several minutes to about 30 seconds each.”
Router buddy comes with detailed video instructions but here is an Introduction to what it can do:

2. Grip-Tite Magnetic Featherboard
www.grip-tite.com
Low tech/high tech – it uses magnets and makes it easy and safe. I watched Jerry demonstrate his magnetic featherboard at the Costa Mesa, CA show this October and it was really fun to watch him. He makes and posts videos to help people understand how to use his tite-grip, and it is really simple once you see it. So judge for yourself (and there are more videos for Grip-Tite that you can watch on HandBookLive):

3. Micro Jig GRR-Ripper System
www.microjig.com
Not into magnets? This is a 100% manual jig that will save your fingers as well. Watch it in action so you can decide which jig will end up under your Christmas tree. Complete video handbook for Microjig including assembly is available on HandBookLive.com, and here is a short overview of the Microjig’s Basic Features:

4. Keller Dovetail System
www.kellerdovetail.com
Keller & Co. pioneered the first through-dovetail router templates, the first bearing-guided router bits, and the first pattern bit. The Keller Dovetail System was the first router jig of any kind to be precision machined to industrial standards for consistent, accurate joinery. It’s been Made in the USA since 1976.
All dovetail jigs come with both the standard dovetail and the straight carbide-tipped industrial bits, with ball-bearing template guides and illustrated instructions. And of course the availability of video instructions for Keller Dovetail system make it an easy choice in our opinion. Seeing is believing. Here is a quick Introduction to this handy device:

5. Soy Gel Paint and Urethane Remover by Franmar
www.franmar.com
This is absolutely amazing product. Having stripped paint from our own kitchen cabinets a few years ago using conventional paint strippers I swore to never do it again. But after seeing Soy Paint remover by Franmar I am ready to tackle that kind of project again. It does not have any odor, it is safe to touch with bare hands, and you don’t need to worry about neighbors complaining about noxious fumes coming from your house! Just love it! And what other paint remover comes with video instructions?! You can watch video handbook for Soy Gel Paint and Urethane Remover or just watch this quick overview:
