THE EMMY- WINNING FILMMAKERS OF “TAXICAB CONFESSIONS” LAUNCH NEW ONLINE ENVIRONMENT FOR ARTISTS BY ARTISTS - CRUSHEDPLANET.COM
Los Angeles, CA, May 10, 2007 - Award-winning filmmakers (“Taxicab Confessions”) Joe and Harry Gantz have announced the creation of their new internet network, CrushedPlanet.com, designed to provide the most intimate, innovative and provocative content on the web, while it protects the rights of artists and gives them the majority of funds from the distribution of their work. CrushedPlanet is an international online community for people 18 years and over, featuring inventive and intelligent content from artists around the world. This is a curated site with fourteen interconnected channels, each with its own unique identity, and all featuring content with a strong point of view. With names like “Turn Back Now,” “Tell a Vision,” “Mind Bloggling” and “The War On Comedy,” individual channels feature content ranging from narrative and documentary, to animation and comedy, to theatre, music, fine art, video blogs, and online dating. Unlike other entertainment websites, CrushedPlanet will carefully select and distribute original work from top artists and emerging talents, while allowing those artists to retain all the rights to their work and receive the majority of fees paid to view their work. CrushedPlanet is positioned to change the web by forming an online international community of adult viewers searching for compelling programming and uncensored creative content. The Gantz brothers are pioneers of a distinct brand of intimate and authentic programming. “We’ve been making Internet programming since before the internet existed,” says Joe Gantz. “We’ve been doing our thing long before there was reality television. Our agents wanted us to do that schlock and we refused. Now we have a place to continue these life-in-progress views of relationships and sexuality that interest us, while at the same time giving other artists a progressive venue to exhibit their work.” Harry Gantz adds, “In a time of mind-numbing entertainment, people are hard pressed to find compelling programming to watch on television. CrushedPlanet is a place for people to find quality entertainment, without having to spend hours scouring the web for one small gem”. There are several factors that give CrushedPlanet an edge over the competition. Firstly, the Gantz Brothers’ brand of intimate and provocative programming is uniquely suited to the internet. Secondly, as a web network designed for adults, CrushedPlanet can use language and nudity to tell powerful stories with a strong point of view, while setting itself apart from amateur video by selecting only high-quality content. Thirdly, CrushedPlanet is an innovator in the business model of distributing artists’ work without taking ownership, while giving artists the majority of money generated from users viewing their content. Revenue will be obtained one of three ways: users may choose to pay individually to view each piece of content, they can view content for free with short advertisements, or there is a monthly subscription option. CrushedPlanet revolutionizes the way content is viewed and sold and serves a market already hungry for quality content. “The public is ready for entertainment with a fresh perspective and CrushedPlanet is the shot of adrenaline audiences have been looking for,” says Joe Gantz. CrushedPlanet is set to launch on May 14th, with other channels rolling out on June 11th. About the Creators of Crushed Planet: Joe and Harry Gantz are the Emmy award-winning director/producers behind the film and television production company View Film.
