MySpace, the world's leading social portal, together with FOX News Channel, today announced an exclusive partnership for the launch of the official MySpace uReport community at http://www.myspace.com/ureport. The partnership, the first between MySpace and FOX News, gives the global MySpace community the ability to share their citizen journalist produced content with the MySpace community, as well as have the chance to be featured on FOX News.
Members of the MySpace uReport community can become "uReporters" by uploading video and photos tagged by specific news categories, including USA, World, Entertainment and Politics. This content could be featured in relevant programming on FOX News Channel and foxnews.com, with FOX News maintaining editorial control of the MySpace page. The community will also feature profiles of FOX News anchors, allowing members to link to their favorite network personalities.
"This synergy with FOX News reinforces what MySpace is all about--providing users the ability to share, explore, connect and consume. Time and time again we're inspired by the creative, original content that the MySpace community produces and shares online--I look forward to seeing what they come up with when presented with the opportunity to be featured on-air," said Chris DeWolfe, CEO and Co-Founder of MySpace.
Roger Ailes, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, FOX News, commented, "FOX News has created a great asset with the uReport service, and under the leadership of our Digital Vice President Jeff Misenti, the benefits of the MySpace partnership will be substantial."
Misenti added, "The MySpace uReport community presents an extraordinary opportunity to expand our network of citizen journalists and provides another platform on which FOX News can engage and connect with its fans."
FOX News uReport is a service through which users can upload photos and videos to FOXNews from a computer or mobile device, allowing the audience to gather information and contribute to news coverage. Photos and videos submitted to uReport may be used on FOX News Channel or FOXNews.com.
