"Monster Slash", original recording artist Bobby "Boris" Pickett's new version of "Monster Mash" opposing the Bush Administration's controversial plan to permit logging, mining and other commercial exploitation of roadless federal forest areas, is an Internet smash! In the less than two weeks since it was launched on October 20, 2004, the Flash movie from the Campaign to Protect America's Lands (CPAL) and Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund has been downloaded an astounding 490,318 times.

Are you into rap? Into Star Wars and sci-fi films? Put them together with cutting edge flash and you get the Starwarz Gangsta Rap music video by Thomas Lee. This is pretty darn good.

This is really goofy - Kitty Cat Dance by Steve Ibsen. Funny kitty dance song with some great flash animation. If you love cats - or know someone or does, this is a wonderful video to share with them. If you have a feline in your home, show them this and see if you can get them up and moving.

Is school really to learn how to read and write or is there an alternative reason? Check out Busted's music video - "What I Go To School For". Not quite as wild as Van Halen's "Hot for Teacher", it does put a different slant on educational pursuits. While you are at the Rolling Stone site, you should check out the new music video from Franz Ferdinand "This Fire". This is a very cool use of animation, blue screen and live action. Impressive.

Music Television has released a non-partisan, animated music video called "Stand And Choose" - created in cooperation with 12 major computer and video game publishers - featuring more than 50 video game characters encouraging young people to vote in the upcoming Presidential election. Some video makers create movies to honor great musicians of the past like The Beatles, Bo Diddly, Beethoven - Todd Washburn however, chose to create an animated music video that celebrates the 1986 pop-hit Everybody Have Fun Tonight by the popular 80's band Wang Chung. On the Cutting Room Floor of Oblivion is a humorous, strange, and fun video that features bizarre imagery and different styles of animation, including: traditional animation, stop motion animation, clay animation, ASCII animation, and computer animation. Try to figure out how Todd did it.

Ready to rock out and dance? Created and submitted by Isaac Klotz, "Yep" is a very cool hip hop music video with some truly exceptional cinematic touches. We especially love the superimposed animated sketch effects. Extremely cool.

Looking for a hot music video that is very cool and a bit sexy? Check out Bang Production's video for the song "Careless Whisper" (a cover of the George Michael classic by rising R&B sensation Del). It takes a while to load but it is worth it.

Are you in a rock and roll band and want to make a video to promote your music and make lots of money and get groupies and appear on the OC? Well, you might want to use animation instead of classic video technologies.

Check out Restraining Order, a four man, original rock band from Philadelphia, has just launched its first animated video. "Wars We Need to See" features the band's members performing in animated form. It includes subtitles so you can actually understand the lyrics. Good touch. A Restraining Order online game is set to launch as well.

The video for "Wars We Need to See" was begun in 2003, and completed last month. It was completely created in Macromedia Flash, using the characters elements designed for the site. FeltTip Sound Studio was also used, just for simple conversion of the mastered CD file to be converted to AIFF format. The video was created in about 120 hours over the course of a year, which doesn't include the original time needed for the creation of the characters. That was animation, background rendering, new characters/elements, lip synching, lyric synching, testing and fine-tuning.

I got to admit it looks great - even if she is borrowing now form Madonna - lots of sex, revealing underwear. black & white rolling around in bed, and lesbian hints. Sort of a rap song - sort of a political protest against all that is wrong with our modern day consumer society and TV media advertising. Check out Lazyboy - "Underwear Goes Inside The Pants" . Great editing; intriguing and challenging concept.

This is a classic. If you never got this in your email, you got to check out the Alien Song video clip. The extraterrestrial named "Blit Wizbot." gives us his version of Gloria Gaynor's disco anthem "I Will Survive". Alien Song is a computer animated short conceived and created by artist Victor Navone. It was created on PC and Macintosh computers using off-the-shelf software and traditional animation techniques. Navone has since been hired by Pixar Animation Studios.

This is outrageous. Christopher King, a budding comedian/malcontent/performance artist of the Chris King Pop Icon web site (look on page two for videos), created "Good Fire, Hit Him" a VH1-style pop-up war video, set to Psychedelic Furs' "Heaven". The imagery could be disturbing.

The Phantom Planet music video from Big Brat on Epic Records should be especially interesting to independent film makers as well as those making their music video productions. It starts of as a team of low budget film makers prepare to make their own zombie movie and then morphs into a classic B/W create feature with a cool little twist at the end. Hosted at Blasto - the home of the best hip-hop and R&B music videos.

Check out these two hot videos from the Rolling Stone site - both feature cool film and video techniques even though music style-wise they are oil and water. "Megalomaniac" by Incubus and "Toxic" by Brittany Spears where she gives a new meaning to mile-high club. Great videos with great effects, editing, direction, lighting and sets. Plus they are both lots of fun. The first time you access the Rolling Stone site, you'll have to register.

This is a very cool and smooth music video. Hosted at the European art video site Wam.TV, A band who made their own pop video and are very good at that. The singer is very cute and blends well with the song. Eighties Fan by Camera Obscura is quite seductive - even in black & white. Check the WAM (WorldArt media TV) site for a lot more great downloads and online streaming - all with a different and artistic bent. Not your typical streaming stuff...

This is great- a animated clip that is funny and with a hook filled music track. You got to take a few moments to appreciate The Real Tuesday Weld: "Terminally Ambivalent Over You". With animation by Alex Budovsky and sounding like someone swiped a collection of records from the 1920s, Tuesday Weld creates odd sampling collages with strong hooks and great beats. This time our hero is in prison making gramophones and longing for a loved one.

There are lots of ways to create and shoot a music video. You don't have to have a big cast and crew, you don't even need to shoot any video. You can take some stock or news footage and simply cut it to fit the music. Check out Bush & Blair - Gay.

Just submitted - the new "Hide" video from Bohica. Well shot with outstanding lighting. According to the band, "Bohica brings an explosive cocktail of American sounds mixed with that British edge. Have you ever heard of the Bonzo Dog Band? One of the most outrageous and wild parody and funny music bands to come out of the UK, their video and music are collectors items. Check out this classic B&W video of By a Waterfall. The Bonzo Dog Band were one of the most successful group to combine rock music and comedy. The Bonzos were lead by Neil Innes and Viv Stanshall (both of whom wrote the lion's share of their best material). Neil Innes also collaborated with members of Monty Python, upon whom the Bonzos were a large influence, as well as writing the songs for and performing in the Beatles documentary spoof, The Rutles. Rob Pongi, one of our contributors, has been collecting, translating and posting an assortment of music and propaganda videos from North Korea. Some are quite cute like Mo Kin singing a cute little song called 'My Parents Kiss' and others are much more raw. Check out the Political Videos section. In this short music video, three 'Genius Kids' sing a song called 'Kim Jong Il's Roses' in a recent celebration of his birthday. You can see it here:

Earlier this year, the legendary Johnny Cash (1932-2003) left us. With a career that spanned 1/2 a century the country music legend will be sadly missed. Johnny Cash was ill for

the video shoot directed by Mark Romaneck - unable to perform the original script Romanek improvised & spliced in scenes of Johnny's long career. Cash's cover of Trent Reznor's Nine inch Nails "Hurt", contains lyrics that make it seem like Cash knew in his heart it would be his last song. Because of the huge demand, many sites have pulled the video. Here is the best quality stream we could find. This is from the Mark Romanek web site, the firstor of this music video.

This simple, straight-forward music video for Clarissa Rawkis was created by Earl Dingman. The video was shot on MiniDV using a Canon ZR40. Captured to PC using a Pinnacle Studio Deluxe rig, edited then converted to various digital formats for disk and tape. And now for something a little different - brought to you by Japan's Rob Pongi - check out this new video from North Korea. This one is called 'Mo Kin' and is a truly amazing music video of Mo Kin, a cute , three-year-old North Korean girl performing a very complicated and interesting song on the xylophone. She is considered as a genius.

You got to see this - the "Send Me an Angel" music video from Deadstar Assembly. Created at South Florida Studios and directed by Rip Odebralski, the animation is incredible - the live action video blended with the animation is mind-boggling. When you are done with the video, check out the site and the other videos. This is an amazing and very professionally designed and developed web site and demonstrates wonderful creativity. Buy their DVD - these guys out to be signed big.

Chris Martin recently sang Coldplay's entire "The Scientist" backward. Watch the brand new Coldplay video for 'The Scientist' from " A Rush of Blood to the Head ". "The Scientist" is a beautiful piano ballad. The video, directed by Jamie Thraves (Radiohead, The Verve), cribs from the lyrics "...back to the start," tells a haunting story in reverse order. Though it looks as if Chris Martin is singing forward - the rest of video is backwards. "Martin learned this impressive feat not out of boredom, but for the video for the song. While the video has been out in the UK - it only recently hit the US airwaves. For his unique approach and creativity, Music video director Jamie Thraves earns this weeks music video of the week! Got to get away? Check out this video "Hoisted away" from Buzzd - This is a hot band out of Toronto Canada on the Smokin Records label. Anyone who's caught themselves fantasizing about being teleported out of the 9 to 5 grind an into a more rewarding situation will definitely be able to relate to this video. Though only available to view in Real player - multiple speeds are offered, even for dial ups. Nicely presented - and expertly encoded if you can watch this one full screen.

Check out this jazzy video - "The David Patrone Quintet," submitted by producer and director Derrick Dudley. It was performed live at a sound stage and was shot on one side and lit from the back. They had one High Def camera on a crane and dolly and then duped it to DV for editing. The master shot was on DV. It was edited on Avid and Derrick used Protools to clean it up a bit. According to Dudley, "Since we shooting on a HD stage, the acoustics were pretty good. Before we shot, our sound guy the band recorded it on the set. I was lucky to get the crew I did. They all were film students at the time, but they were all great. The set design may have suffered a little bit but I hoped that people would concentrate more on the song. It took us 12 long hours to capture the video and look we wanted. My friend and the singer said "damn, I thought we would be done in four hours! I did not realize there was that much work to go into a video with lights and sound!"
