StableRoad.com is
devoted to showcasing sports and filmmakers of today and
from the past. Heavy emphasis is being placed on production
quality, with all clips and movies being "juried" before
uploading onto the site. All of the media is being presented
at a 30 frames per second (fps) rate, rather than the (often
used) lower bandwidth 15fps, in order to ensure smooth
playback.
Currently, they have lots of classic windsurfing short films
and vignettes from the late 80s and early 90s from Robert
Masters' own Sports Stock Footage Library and a series of
short films shot in 16mm film from producer/director Greg
Stump. Also on-line are segments from O'Neill's recent
surfing release "Smash It Up" featuring surfing antics from
The Pipeline to Indonesia, a series of shorts from Volcom
Stone, "Kids Who Rip" by Rob Parmenter - and a showcase of
exotic concept sports cars from DaimlerChrysler.
This is a very cool, well produced site. They promise that
they will be adding new sports, new filmmakers, new
features, new products, and new looks on an ongoing basis.

Drake Mountain
-
http://www.drakemountain.com.
It is a video blog that documents a fictional expedition
to a haunted mountain in Vermont. All 10 episodes along
with a blooper reel are now online, just in time for
Halloween. We really like how they integrated the
YouTube feed into their own site so that they didn't
have to worry about hosting the video or bandwidth
costs. Smart.
Drake
Mountain had an incredibly intense production schedule.
Auditions were held on September 26 and the production was
casted on October 1. The first day of shooting was October
7. By October 21, the movie was shot and by October 27, the
final episode was edited and uploaded to the web.
Believe it or not, NBC.com is
hot. Aside In addition to online versions of many of the
network's top shows, you can also access a few Internet only
productions. Check out
"Its Your Show" where amateur film and video makers get
to produce and upload their own comedy skits and try to win
big bucks - $1000 every week with a $100,000 grand
prize. This is the future of the net. Quality video with a
big bucks content provider behind it.

Unlike
most video web sites that are "user generated" video
sites where most of the clips are recycled amongst the
hundreds of YouTube clones,
Watchmojo.com
is taking a different route. They produce and
publish all our own video in-house and feature it on our
site, free, and updated daily. They have only been
around since February and we have already built up a
library of over 2300 clips covering a wide variety of
genres and categories.
There are thousands of sites
- with hundreds seemingly springing up every week - that
offer to host and promote videos and clips. This new and
very unique entry into the horserace combines a very nice
collection of videos with an intriguing web design and
organization. Without your typical text based format,
http://www.myextreme.ca/
offers up dynamic and extremely tiny
thumbnails - "pinkie-nails?" of the videos for you to pick
from. There is no text description, metadata or even search
function so you have to choose by what your eyes recognize
from the tiny icon or image. Interesting and visually
stimulating, it might not be the most effective way to find
videos. You be the judge. Check it out. And like the
other web video hosting sites, they are looking for your
videos.
