RFS to Feature Variable Polarization Technology at NAB 2015
Suite of Wireless Products are Frequency-Agile, Polarization-Agile and Future-Proof
WHO: Radio Frequency Systems (RFS) is a global wireless and broadcast infrastructure specialist. RFS designs and manufactures a range of antennas including broadband panel arrays, pylon arrays, combiners and filters, RF switch frames, rigid transmission line components and flexible air-dielectric transmission lines.
With a worldwide customer base and 80 years of experience in the broadcast industry, RFS’ engineers are dedicated to total broadcast RF system design – from the output of the transmitter to the antenna.
WHAT: RFS technology future-proofs today’s investments for broadcasters and wireless carriers with dynamic products that support broadband operation and, in the case of filters, allow retuning for changing channel allocations or wireless standards with minimal disruption. RFS enables customers to adapt to evolving markets and helps customers ensure their installations will be capable of supporting evolving frequency requirements, such as the impending reverse auction or AWS-3.
At NAB 2015, RFS will display a suite of products that are frequency-agile, polarization-agile and future-proof, including its SBB array, wideband series of slot arrays, the SxP series pylon array, the PEP Master Array and PEP Lite array.
RFS will also display the expanded PeakPower+TM bandpass filter/combiner range, designed for global filtering applications associated with DTV television transmission. The new products are 6 or 8-pole filters incorporating two cross-couplings to meet all mask filtering requirements. It is very compact for easy integration into equipment and features very low insertion loss for its size. The filter is tunable over full UHF band (470-862 MHz), and has adjustable bandwidth available for 6, 7 and 8 MHz channels for global applications. It also features an external, non-invasive coupling adjustment.
Additionally, RFS will display its PEP Lite array, which has similar wind load characteristics to traditional pylon arrays but is both frequency-agile (covering the full UHF array) and polarization-agile, allowing two channels to operate in the array with different polarization ratios. These polarization ratios can also be changed in the future with no change required to the antenna system. Advantages include reduced tower loading, broadband future-proof design and the ability to change the antenna’s polarization ratio as the broadcaster’s business model changes.
WHERE: NAB 2015 will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. RFS will be exhibiting in booth #C1462.
WHEN: NAB 2015 will take place April 13-16, 2015.
