(New York, NY) Brooklyn based electro-pop quartet Hello Phones proudly present their second album Future City set for release December 10th, 2013. Recommended for those who like The Kills, Chromatics and Yeah Yeah Yeahs circa Fever To Tell, Hello Phones have been garnering much attention for their undeniably catchy brand of vintage electronic pop, leading SSYFAL to exclaim “They have managed to capture the sound of the late 70s/early 80s New York of legend without sounding like derivative re-treads.”
Their upcoming release was mixed by Grammy Award-winning recording engineer Benedetto Nino Caccavale. Caccavale’s professional credits include Busta Rhymes, Imani Coppola, Ashanti, Justin Timberlake, and many others. Future City’s first single and video for “The One” showcase Hello Phones’ penchant for combining burbling, bouncy synthesizers, catchy guitar riffs and the penetratingly melodic and distinct vocals of lead singer DonnaFran. Paper Blog says “a sweet electro tune with hypnotic vocals to go along with the pulsing sound of the keyboards and MPC driven music.” creating music that is equally indebted to New-Wave of the past as to the Indie Rock that currently pervades today’s musical landscape.
Originally conceived in 2011 as a duo comprised of DonnaFran (vocals/guitar) and Joe Velour (guitars), Hello Phones released their first album Get It Together in March 2012. Shortly after, new bandmates Orlando Arce (bass) and Dimi (drums) joined the duo, rounding out the quartet and bringing the bands current sound to fruition.
Known for their incredibly unique live shows, Hello Phones have been bringing their sample-based live performances to renowned venues all across New York City including stints at The Glasslands, Death By Audio, and Webster Hall. Make sure to check out their new single and video for “The One” and watch out for the release of Future City this December!
